Day 9 Blog Challenge: Something/Someone You're Proud Of

Im proud of.......

ME

Pregnant at 19 and in college, the year was 1999 and I had just started my 1st year in July, 2 weeks after high school graduation. I find out Im pregnant around October. Obviously my mother wasnt happy, in fact, she was the exact opposite as most parents of a still then teenager would be. I was told Im probably not going to finish college and Id be giving up everything I started to build.

It took a long time for her to get used to the fact that I was having the baby no matter what. Jordyn's dad at the time was around 23 and in the Navy. Like many of us out there, if you tell me I cant or wont do something, you bet your ass I WILL! Thats exactly what I did...

I worked part time and went to school full time taking 19 units each trimester and never took any time off of school. I made Dean's list mulitiple times and made sure I excelled. Pregnant and working till all hours of the night on projects, proposals, essays, etc. I made it work. We got married in 2000, 5 months pregnant and I gave birth during my 2 week break in between trimesters and went back to school the week after, STILL never having took any days off from being pregnant. I brought Jordyn to all of my team meetings for our senior project and graduated with my Bachelor's of Science in Business Information Systems with a 3.44 gpa, ugggh 1 point away from graduating with Honors...boooo! I dont regret a thing. I proved my mother wrong and you know, maybe that was her intent, to say that so that I would push myself that much harder to start the foundation for a better future for me and Jordyn. Either way, I did it and Im so very proud of myself to have done it. First in all of my friends to have gotten married and graduated college. I did it...and I will always be proud of myself for that...
